Essential building works have now commenced at The Boardwalk and are expected to continue for several months. During this time, our courtyard will be scaffolded and will not be accessible, but the rest of the building will be operational and open business as usual.
We expect only minimal disruption, but we understand that this may raise concerns for customers with upcoming bookings. We want to reassure you that we have been working closely with the construction team to assess potential impacts and have put measures in place to minimise noise disruption wherever possible.
We have reviewed all upcoming room bookings and events, and someone from our venue team will contact you directly if we believe any specific booking may be affected or if contingency plans need to be considered.
Key information
- Access to The Boardwalk will remain open throughout the works, although entry will be available via the Brunswick Street entrance only. Access will not be available from the Hutcheson Street entrance.
- Wayfaring signage will be installed at Hutcheson Street to guide visitors to the Brunswick Street entrance.
- Some noise associated with the works will be unavoidable, particularly during the installation and removal of scaffolding. At this stage, it is difficult to anticipate the exact level of disruption.
- Works will take place Mon – Fri between 8.00am – 5.00pm.

Yes, the building will be fully open as usual to customers, attendees, and audience members for events and programmes throughout the building.
- Will there be noise disruption?
We anticipate minimal noise disruption throughout the works, but we will always work closely with you to ensure your booking can go ahead as normal and will move rooms where needed.
- Will access to the building be limited?
The only limited access will be in relation to the entrance. You will only be able to enter via the Brunswick Street entrance as the Hutcheson Street entrance will be closed. Also, the courtyard will be off limits throughout the duration of the works.
- Will there be CCTV?
Yes, the construction company will be installing CCTV for extra security.
